I have used one of my own photographs for this tutorial

Skill Level: Beginners
No outside Filters used

This tutorial is my own creation; any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental

Program shortcuts will be given in parentheses



Needed

Paint Shop Pro - I used X2
(Tutorial will work with other versions)
Free 30 day trial from Corel, available here



Image

Graphic of choice
Width greater than height
Centre focus to suit the mask

Suitable font for text
(I chose Algerian, available here )



Script Mirror/Flip

If you use PSP X4 or higher, you can get the script for Image Flip and Mirror from creation Cassel



Performance Notes

This tutorial is in 6 parts:
- Preparation
- Masked Image
- Top Image
- Text Box
- Text Decoration (Optional)
- Background

The settings for different Tools and Effects will stay the same throughout the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given

Don't forget to save your work often

Preparation

1) Download mask and save to your Mask folder

2) Download texture and save to your Texture folder

3) File > Open
Open image of choice

4) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original

5) Layers > Promote Background Layer
(If necessary)

6) Dropper Tool (E)
Left click in image to choose a light Foreground Color
(I chose #f7f1eb)
Right click in image to choose a dark Background Color
(I chose #313711)
The colors are for the text and textbox

7) Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels / Inch
Width = No greater than 600 Pixels
Height = No greater than 450 Pixels

8) Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask
Settings:
Radius = 1.00
Strength = 47, Clipping = 5
Luminance only = Checked
(Or a setting of your liking)



Masked Image

9) Layers > Load/Save Mask > New Mask Layer > Load Mask From Disk
Settings:
Mask = lbm62
Source luminance = Checked
Fit to layer = Checked
Invert Transparency = Not checked
Hide all mask = Checked

10) Layers > Merge > Merge Group

11) Edit > Copy

12) Minimize masked image



Top Image

13) File > New
Settings:
Width = 630 Pixels
Height = 600 Pixels
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels/inch
Raster Background = Checked
Color depth = RGB / 8 bits channel
Transparent = Checked

14) Edit > Paste As New Layer

15) Minimize

This will be called Top Image for the rest of the tutorial



Text Box

16) File > New
Settings:
Width = 580 Pixels
Height = 75 Pixels

17) Flood Fill Tool (F)
Settings:
Match mode = None
Use all layers = Not checked
Blend mode = Normal
Opacity = 100

18) Right click to Flood fill with Background Color

19) Selections > Select All

20) Selections > Modify > Contract
Settings:
Number of pixels = 5

21) Selections > Invert

22) Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
Settings:
Bevel = #2, Width = 5
Smoothness = 0, Depth = 6
Ambience = 0, Shininess = 10
Color = White, Angle = 315
Intensity = 50, Elevation = 40

23) Selections > Invert

24) Layers > New Raster Layer

25) Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 75, Blur = 15.00
Color = Black
Fill interior with color = Not checked

26) Selections > Select None

27) Materials Palette
Switch Back and Foreground Color

28) Text Tool (T)
Settings:
Font = Algerian (or Font of choice)
Size = 74 Points (or what suits your Font and Text)
Alignment = Center
Anti-alias = Sharp
Stroke width = 0.0
Create as Vector
Auto kern = Checked
Kerning = 100 (or what suits your Font and Text)

Type Text of choice and click on Apply

29) Objects > Align > Center in Canvas

30) Layers > Convert to Raster Layer

This will be called Text Box for the rest of the tutorial

If you do not wish to add any Text Decoration, go straight to Step #47

If you have space to fill in the Text box:

Text Decoration

31) Minimize

32) File > New
Settings:
Width = 40 Pixels
Height = 40 Pixels

33) Preset Shape Tool (P)
Choose Shape of Choice
(I chose Flower 6)
Settings:
Retain Style = Not checked
Anti-alias = Checked
Create as Vector = Checked
Line Style = Solid
Width = 1.00

34) Materials Palette
Switch Back and Foreground Color
Close Background Color

35) Draw from Top Left to Bottom Right

36) Objects > Align > Center in Canvas

37) Layers > Convert to Raster Layer

38) Edit > Copy

39) Minimize

This will be called Text Decoration for the rest of the tutorial

40) Activate Text Box

41) Edit > Paste As New Layer

42) Move Tool (M)
Move to the left of the Text or a place of your liking

43) Optional:
Layers > Duplicate
(I preferred the visibility of my shape like this)

44) If you did #43 only:
Layers > Merge > Merge Down

45) Optional:
Layers > Duplicate
(If you want the shape to the left and to the right of your text)

46) If you did #45 only:
Image > Mirror

47) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

48) Edit > Copy

49) Minimize

50) Activate Top Image

51) Edit > Paste As New Layer
Your Top Image should now have the Masked Image and the Text Box

52) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 70, Blur = 10.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = Not checked

53) Move Tool
Move Masked Image and Text Box to your liking

54) Layers > New Raster Layer

55) Add Watermark(s)

56) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

57) Selection Tool (S)
Create selection from: Layer opaque

59) Layers > New Raster Layer

60) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

61) Dropper Tool
Left click in image to choose a light Foreground Color for the Background
(I chose #dde4e9)

62) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new Layer with Foreground Color

63) Effects > Texture Effects > Texture
Settings:
Texture = LB_texture22
Size = 30%, Smoothness = 0
Depth = 1
Ambience = 0
Shininess = 0, Color = White
Angle = 315, Intensity = 50
Elevation = 30

64) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
Settings:
Set Compression value to = 20
Chrome subsampling = YCbCr 1x1 1x1 1x1 (None)
Save Exif data = Not checked



Background

65) Edit > Copy
(Bottom layer of Top Image)

66) Edit > Paste As New Image

67) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer


You are done!
Now you can assemble the stationery in LC or OE/Windows Mail or Wikmail.
