I have used one of my own photographs for this tutorial

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner and Adventurous Others
No outside Filters needed

This tutorial is my own creation; any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental

Program shortcuts will be given in parentheses



Needed

Paint Shop Pro - I used X2
(Tutorial will work with other versions)
Free 30 day trial from Corel, available here



Image

Tube or Mist of choice
(Height greater than width)



Texture

Canvas simple, available here



Design Element

LB_designE_3, available here
LB_designE_3_greyscaled, available here



Performance Notes

This tutorial is in 2 parts:
- Preparation
- Background

The settings for different Tools and Effects will stay the same throughout the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given

Preparation

1) Download texture if necessary and place into your Texture Folder

2) Download the design elements "LB_designE_3" and LB_designE_3_greyscaled and save it where you can easily find them.
(I make a new Folder for every tutorial I do in a Folder called "PSP + year" (e.g. PSP2016) and save everything I need and create for that tutorial into that folder)

3) File > Open
Open image of choice

4) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original

5) Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels / Inch
Width = Not bigger than 350 Pixels
Height = Not bigger than 370

6) Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask
Settings:
Radius = 2.00, Strength = 10
Clipping = 5
Luminance only = Not checked
(Or a setting of your liking)

7) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
(in case it's not on the clipboard anymore later)
Minimize one copy

8) Edit > Copy

9) Dropper Tool (E)
Choose a light color as Foreground Color
(I chose #eaf2f8)
Right click to choose a dark Background color
(I chose #3f3917)

10) File > Open
Find the design element "LB_designE_3_greyscaled"

11) Window > Duplicate
Close original

12) If you do not have Manual Color Correction:
View > Customize

13) Commands > All Commands > Manual Color Correction

Left click on "Manual Color Correction" and drag to a place in the Adjust menu

Settings:
Preset target color = Not checked
Freehand selection = Not checked
Source = #808080
Target = Your Background Color

15) Activate your image (Tube or Mist)
Image > Resize
Settings:
Lock aspect ratio = NOT Checked
Resample using = Bicubic
Width = Width of your image + 50 pixels
Height = 400
Resize all layers = Checked

16) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

If you click on the arrow indicated by the hand, PSP will set it to default

17) Layers > New Raster Layer

18) Layers > Arrange > Move Down

19) Flood Fill Tool (F)
Settings:
Match mode = None
Use all layers = Not checked
Blend mode = Normal
Opacity = 100

20) Left click to flood fill new Layer with Foreground color

21) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

22) Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Settings:
Radius = 12.50

23) Effects > Reflection Effects > Kaleidoscope
Settings:
Horizontal offset = - 93 (Minus)
Vertical offset = 40
Rotation angle = 2
Scale factor = - 88 (Minus)
Number of petals = 17
Number of orbits = 0
Radial suction = 53
Edge mode = Wrap

Reduce opacity to 62
(or a setting of your liking)

Reduce opacity to 53

34) Edit > Paste > Paste as New Layer
(the tube or mist)

Settings:
Bevel #2, Width = 3
Smoothness = 3, Depth = 3
Ambience = 4, Shininess = 1
Color = White, Angle = 315
Intensity = 50, Elevation = 30

36) Optional:
If using a mist you might wish to leave this step out
Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Horizontal & Vertical = 3
Opacity = 50, Blur = 5.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = Not checked
(Or a setting of your liking)

37) Optional:
If using a mist you might wish to leave this step out
Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Horizontal & Vertical = - 2 (Minus)
Opacity = 20
(Or a setting of your liking)

38) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

39) Image > Canvas Size
Settings:
Width = Your image + 26 Pixels
Height = 400
Lock aspect ratio = Not checked
Placement
Arrow = Left middle
(Width of my image is now 423 Pixels)

40) Selection Tool (S) > Custom Selection
Settings:
Top = 0
Left = Image width minus 40 Pixels
Right = Image width
Bottom = 400
(My example is:
Left = 383, Right 423)

41) Layers > New Raster Layer

42) Activate your colorized design element
Edit > Copy

43) Activate your background
Edit > Paste Into Selection

44) Layers > New Raster Layer

45) File > Open
Find the design element "LB_designE_3.pspimage"
Edit > Copy

46) Activate your background
Edit > Paste Into Selection

47) Layers Palette
You may wish to keep the design element LB_designE_3 or the colorized version.
Delete the one you don't want.

This is what I did:
I reduced the opacity of the layer with LB_designE_3 to 47.
The opacity of the layer with the colorized design element is 100

49) If you have 2 layers with the design element only:
Layers > Merge > Merge Down

Settings:
Width = 2000 Pixels (or width of choice)
Height = 400
Placement = Left Middle Arrow

51) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical = 0, Horizontal = 5
Opacity = 25
Shadow on new layer = Checked

52) Layers Palette
Make sure the layer with the Drop Shadow only is activated
Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Corner = Checked
Vertical = Checked
Vertical offset = 0
Transition = 50

53) Layers > New Raster Layer

54) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

55) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new Layer with Foreground color

56) Effects > Texture Effects > Texture

57) Layers > New Raster Layer

58) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new Layer with Foreground color

59) Layers Palette
Reduce opacity to 55
(or a setting of your liking)

60) Activate Top Layer (design element)
Layers > New Raster Layer

61) Add Watermark(s)

62) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
Settings:
Set Compression value to = 20 - 30
Chroma subsampling = YCbCr 1x1 1x1 1x1 (None)
Save Exif data = Not checked

You are done!
Now you can assemble the stationery in LC or OE/Windows Mail or Wikmail.
