I have used one of my own photographs for this tutorial

This tutorial is dedicated to Gwen Mather.
A true friend loved by all who knew her.
I owe more to Gwen than words can say.
In her youth Gwen visited Grindelwald (tutorial picture) and loved telling me about it

Skill Level: Advanced Beginners & Adventurous Others

Knowledge of using Filters is necessary (or learn how to get started with my ABC Tutorials)

This tutorial is my own creation; any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental

Program shortcuts will be given in parentheses



Needed

Paint Shop Pro - I used X2
(Tutorial will work with other versions)
Free 30 day trial from Corel, available here

Performance Notes

This tutorial is in 4 parts:
- Preparation
- Pattern
- Frame
- Background

The settings for different Tools and Effects will stay the same throughout the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given

If you use PSP X4 or higher, you can get the script for Image Flip and Mirror from creation Cassel

Don't forget to save your work often

Preparation

1) Download and install Filter if necessary
(If you install filters you need to restart PSP afterwards)

2) File > Open
Open image of choice

3) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original

4) Dropper Tool (E)
Left click in image to choose a light Foreground color
(I chose #d4e6ec)
Right click in image to choose a dark Background color
(I chose #394f57)

5) Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels / Inch
Width = Not greater than 450 Pixels
Height = Not less than 310 Pixels and not greater than 360 Pixels

6) Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask
Settings:
Radius = 1.00
Strength = 47, Clipping = 5
Luminance only = Checked
(Or a setting of your liking)

7) Edit > Copy

8) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Minimize one copy



Pattern

9) Image > Resize
Settings:
Lock aspect ratio = Not checked
Width = 400 Pixels
Height = 400 Pixels

10) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Default

If you click on the arrow indicated by the hand, PSP will set it to default

11) Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Settings:
Radius = 15.00

12) Effects > Distortion Effects > Pixelate
Settings:
Block width = 10
Block height = 10
Symmetric = Checked

13) Effects > Plugins > Filter Factory Gallery Q > Gravity Blossom
Settings:
lens position x = 75
lens position y = 182
e-radius = 155
bloom x = 32
bloom y = 159
atomic = 5

This will be called Pattern for the rest of the tutorial

15) Materials Palette
Change Background to Pattern
Settings:
Pattern = Pattern
Angle = 0, Scale = 12
Texture = Not checked

16) Minimize pattern
Do NOT close



Frame

17) Maximize the other image copy

18) Layers > New Raster Layer

19) Selections > Select All

20) Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 61, Blur = 25.00
Color = Black
Fill interior with color = Not checked

21) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Symmetric = Checked
Size in pixels = 1
Color = Black

22) Materials Palette
Change Foreground to Gradient
Settings:
Foreground-background
Angle = 0, Repeats 132
Style = Sunburst
Invert = Not checked
Center Point Horizontal = 50
Vertical = 50
Link center and focal points = Checked
Texture = Not checked

23) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Size in pixels = 5
Color = Any color not in image

24) Magic Wand Tool
Settings:
Mode = Replace
Match mode = RGB Value
Tolerance = 0
Use all layers = Not checked
Contiguous = Checked
Feather = 0
Anti-alias = Checked
Outside

25) Select new border

26) Flood Fill Tool (F)
Settings:
Match mode = None
Use all layers = Not checked
Blend mode = Normal
Opacity = 100

27) Left click to flood fill new border with Gradient

28) Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
Settings:
Bevel = #9, Width = 4
Smoothness = 0, Depth = 5
Ambience = 20****, Shininess = 5
Color = Background Color, Angle = 315
Intensity = 50, Elevation = 30

****If the Gradient is no longer visible, increase "Ambience" and write down number

29) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Size in pixels = 11

30) Magic Wand Tool
Select new border

31) Edit > Paste Into Selection

32) Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur

33) Effects > Texture Effects > Mosaic - Antique
Settings:
Number of columns = 68
Number of rows = 68
Symmetric = Checked
Tile diffusion (%) = 33
Grout width = 4
Grout diffusion (%) = 84

Do NOT close Frame



Background

52) On Frame:
Selection Tool (S) > Custom Selection
Settings:
Top = 65
Left = 1, Right = 65
Bottom = 365

53) Edit > Copy Merged

54) Edit > Paste As New Image

55) Image > Canvas Size
Settings:
Lock aspect ratio = Not Checked
Width = 81 Pixels
Height = 300
Placement = Middle Right Arrow

56) Layers > Duplicate

57) Image > Mirror

58) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

59) Image > Canvas Size
Settings:
Lock aspect ratio = Not Checked
Width = 2000 Pixels (or width of choice)
Height = 300
Placement = Left Middle Arrow

60) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical = 0, Horizontal = 5
Opacity = 50, Blur = 9.50
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = Not checked

61) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Corner = Checked
Vertical = Checked
Vertical offset (%) = 0
Transition (%) = 50

62) Layers > New Raster Layer

63) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

Right click to flood fill new Layer with Pattern

Change Gradient back to Foreground Color

67) Layers > New Raster Layer

68) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new Layer with Foreground Color

69) Layers Palette
Reduce opacity to 88
(Or a setting of your liking)

70) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

You are done!
Now you can assemble the stationery in LC or OE/Windows Mail or Wikmail.
