I have used one of my own photographs for this tutorial

Skill Level: Advanced Beginners & Adventurous Others

No outside Filters used

This tutorial is my own creation; any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental

Program shortcuts will be given in parentheses



Needed

Paint Shop Pro - I used X2
(Tutorial will work with other versions)
Free 30 day trial from Corel, available here

Performance Notes

This tutorial is in 3 parts:
- Preparation
- Frame
- Background

The settings for different Tools and Effects will stay the same throughout the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given

If you use PSP X4 or X5, you can get the script for Image Flip and Mirror from creation Cassel

Don't forget to save your work often

Preparation

1) Download the Mask and save to your Mask Folder

2) Download Texture and place into your Texture Folder

3) File > Open
Open image of choice

4) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original

5) Dropper Tool (E)
Left click in image to choose a light Foreground color
(I chose #effbdf)
Right click in image to choose a medium/dark Background color
(I chose #817b71)

6) Materials Palette
Set Foreground to Gradient
Settings:
Foreground-background
Angle = 45, Repeats = 7
Invert = Not Checked
Style = Linear
Texture = Not checked

7) Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels / Inch
Width = No greater than 450 Pixels
Height = No greater than 390 Pixels

8) Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask
Settings:
Radius = 10.00
Strength = 20, Clipping = 7
Luminance only = Not checked
(Or a setting of your liking)

9) Edit > Copy



Frame

10) Layers > Promote Background Layer
(If necessary)

11) Layers > Duplicate

12) Layers > Load/Save Mask > Load Mask From Disk
Settings:
Mask = lbm48
Source luminance = Checked
Fit to layer = Checked
Invert transparency = Not checked
Hide all mask = Checked

13) Layers > Merge > Merge Group

14) Layers > New Raster Layer

15) Selections > Select All

16) Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 60, Blur = 15.00
Color = Black
Fill interior with color = Not checked

Smoothness = 20, Depth = 3
Ambience = 0, Shininess = 7
Color = White, Angle = 315
Intensity = 30, Elevation = 50

29) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Size in pixels = 7
Color = Any contrasting color

30) Magic Wand Tool
Select new border

31) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill with Gradient

32) Effects > Art Media Effects > Brush Strokes

33) Effects > Texture Effects > Texture

Size = 40%, Smoothness = 0
Depth = 1
Ambience = -20 (Minus)
Shininess = 0, Color = White

34) Image > Add Borders

Select new border

Left click to flood fill with Gradient

Set compression value to = 20 - 30
Chroma subsampling = YCbCr 1x1 1x1 1x1 (None)
Save Exif data = Not checked

Do NOT Close Frame



Background

55) On Frame:
Selection Tool (S) > Custom Selection

72) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new Layer with Gradient

73) Effects > Art Media Effects > Brush Strokes

75) Materials Palette
Change Gradient back to Foreground Color

76) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new layer with Foreground Color

77) Effects > Texture Effects > Texture

78) Layers Palette
Reduce opacity to 40
(Or a setting of your liking)

79) Layers > Merge > Merge Down

80) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Corner = Checked
Vertical = Checked
Vertical offset (%) = 0
Transition (%) = 50

81) Layers > New Raster Layer

82) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new layer with Foreground Color

83) Layers Palette
Reduce opacity to 44

84) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
