Program shortcuts will be given in parentheses



Needed

Paint Shop Pro - I used X2
(Tutorial will work with other versions)
Free 30 day trial from Corel, available here

This will be known as "Silver Pattern" for the rest of the tutorial



Filters

Fantastic Machines > Paint Engine, available here
FM Tiles Tools, Blend Emboss, available here

Performance Notes

This tutorial is in 4 parts:
- Preparation
- Pattern
- Frame
- Background

The settings for different Tools and Effects will stay the same throughout the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given

If you use PSP X4 or higher, you can get the script for Image Flip and Mirror from creation Cassel.

Don't forget to save your work often

Preparation

1) Download and install Filters if necessary
(If you install filters you need to restart PSP afterwards)

2) Download the Silver Pattern and place into your Pattern Folder

3) File > Open
Open image of choice

4) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original

5) Dropper Tool (E)
Left click in image to choose a Foreground color
(I chose #9362ea)
Should be a dominant color from your image

Choose a second color with the same Hue (H) by right click in the Color square of the Materials Palette

6) Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels / Inch
Width = No greater than 420 Pixels
Height = No greater than 350 Pixels

7) Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask
Settings:
Radius = 1.00
Strength = 47, Clipping = 5
Luminance only = Checked
(Or a setting of your liking)

8) Materials Palette
Change Foreground to Gradient
Settings:
Foreground-background
Angle = 45, Repeats = 9
Invert = Not Checked
Style = Linear
Texture = Not checked

9) Materials Palette
Change Background to Pattern
Settings:
Silver Pattern or Pattern of choice
Angle = 0, Scale = 100
Texture = Not checked

10) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Minimize one copy



Pattern

11) Image > Resize
Settings:
Lock aspect ratio = Not checked
Width = 250 Pixels
Height = 250

12) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
