This tutorial is in 4 parts:

The settings for different Tools and Effects will stay the same throughout the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given

Preparation
1) Download and install filters if necessary
2) File > Open
Open image of choice
3) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original
4) Image > Resize
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels / Inch
Width = No greater than 420 Pixels
Height = No greater than 320
5) Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask
Radius = 10.00, Strength = 20
Clipping = 7
Luminance only = Not checked
6) Dropper Tool (E)
Right click to choose a dark Background color
and
Left click to choose a light Foreground Color
Your Foreground Color must not be any darker than mine or the Pattern will not work
7) Materials Palette
Change Background to Gradient
Foreground-background
Angle = 45, Repeats = 7
Invert = Not Checked
Style = Linear
Texture = Not checked
8) Window > Duplicate twice
Minimize 2 copies
9) Edit > Copy
Pattern
10) Image > Resize
Width = 150 Pixels
Height = Will self adjust
11) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Default
12) Effects > Artistic Effects > Hot Wax Coating
