I have used one of my own photographs for this tutorial

Skill Level: Advanced Beginners & Adventurous Others

Knowledge of using Filters is necessary (or learn how to get started with my ABC Tutorials)

This tutorial is my own creation; any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental

Program shortcuts will be given in parentheses



Needed

Paint Shop Pro - I used X2
(Tutorial will work with other versions)
Free 30 day trial from Corel, available here

Performance Notes

This tutorial is in 3 parts:
- Preparation
- Frame
- Background

The settings for different Tools and Effects will stay the same throughout the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given

If you use PSP X4 or X5, you can get the script for Image Flip and Mirror from creation Cassel

Don't forget to save your work often

Preparation

1) Download and install Filters if necessary
(If you install filters you need to restart PSP afterwards)

2) Download the Mask and save to your Mask Folder

3) File > Open
Open image of choice

4) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original

5) Dropper Tool (E)
Left click in image to choose a light Foreground color
(I chose #f7ebe7)
Right click to choose a medium to dark Background color
(I chose #2d510e)

6) Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels / Inch
Width = No greater than 450 Pixels
Height = No greater than 370 Pixels

7) Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask
Settings:
Radius = 10.00, Strength = 15
Clipping = 5
Luminance only = Not checked
(Or a setting of your liking)

8) Layers > Promote Background Layer



Frame

9) Layers > Load/Save Mask > Load Mask From Disk
Settings:
Mask = lbm45 or mask of choice
Source luminance = Checked
Fit to layer = Checked
Invert transparency = Not checked
Hide all mask = Checked

10) Layers > Merge > Merge Group

11) Edit > Copy

12) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 5
Opacity = 50, Blur = 5.00
Color = Dark Background Color or Black
Shadow on new layer = Not checked
(Or Setting of your liking)

13) Layers > New Raster Layer

14) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

15) Flood Fill Tool (F)
Settings:
Match mode = None
Use all layers = Not checked
Blend mode = Normal
Opacity = 100

16) Left click to flood fill new layer with Foreground Color

17) Selections > Select All

18) Paste > Paste Into Selection

19) Selections > Select None

20) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Default

21) Effects > Distortion Effects > Twirl
Settings:
Degrees = 720

22) Edit > Repeat Twirl

23) Optional:
Effects > Plugins > Simple > 4 Way Average
(I did not use the effect with my example, but it was used by some testers)

24) Layers > New Raster Layer

25) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill with Foreground Color

26) Layers Palette
Change Blend Mode from Normal to Saturation (Legacy)

Reduce Opacity of Layer to your liking
(Mine is 57 with this image, but 100 with another attempt)

28) Layers > New Raster Layer

29) Selections > Select All

30) Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 70, Blur = 15.00
Color = Black
Fill interior with color = Not checked

31) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Symmetric = Checked

Mirror = Checked
Vertical = Checked
Vertical offset (%) = 0
Width (%) = 50
Transition (%) = 50

107) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

Now you can assemble the stationery in LC or OE/Windows Mail or Wikmail.
