Needed
Paint Shop Pro 9

Graphic
Image of choice, height greater than width
Image should ideally have a center focus
The frame has a set color, choose an image, which will go with the frame color
Pattern
Gold Pattern arguld18, available
here
Wood Pattern Walnut, available
here
Performance Notes
This tutorial is in 4 parts:
- Preparation
- Frame
- Background
- Assembling stationary in LC
The settings for different Tools will stay the same throughout
the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given
Don't forget to save your work often
Preparation
1) Download the Patterns and place into Pattern Folder
2) File > Open
Open Graphic of choice
3) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original
4) Image > Resize
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Resolution = 72.000
Height = No greater than 400 pixels
Width = Will self adjust
Write down your new width + height
5) Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen
(If necessary)
6) Layers > Promote Background Layer
(If necessary)
7) Window > Duplicate
Minimize one copy of the Graphic for later use
8) Materials Palette
Click in your Background Color, click the Pattern Tab and look for the Walnut Pattern
Angle = 135, Scale = 25
Texture = Not checked
9) Image > Resize
Lock aspect ratio = Not checked
Width = 600 pixels
Height = Current height
10) Effects > Reflection Effects > Pattern
Horizontal offset (%) = -37 (Minus)
Vertical offset (%) = 45, Rotation angle = 235
Scale factor = -76 (Minus)
Number of columns = 3, Number of rows = 13
Horizontal shift = 32, Vertical shift = 49
11) Crop Tool (R)
Left = 11, Top = 0
Right = 600, Bottom = Height of your image
Double-click in image to crop
For the rest of the tutorial I will refer to this Pattern as "Wallpaper"
12) If you do not already have your Ruler set:
View > Rulers
13) Minimize Wallpaper Pattern
Do NOT close yet
Frame
14) Restore Up the spare Graphic
15) Selection Tool (S)
Selection type = Ellipse
Mode = Replace, Feather = 0
Anti-alias = Checked
16) Find the middle of your graphic
and draw towards the bottom right corner
Make sure that at least 20 pixels are left on all sides
17) Layers > New Raster Layer
18) Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout
Vertical & Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 50, Blur = 11.00
Shadow Color = Black
Fill interior with color = Not checked
19) Selections > Modify > Select Selection Borders
Outside = Checked, Anti-alias = Checked
Border width = 7
20) Layers > New Raster Layer
21) Flood Fill Tool (F)
Match mode = None
Sample merged = Checked
Blend mode = Normal
Opacity = 100
22) Flood fill new Layer with Wood Pattern Walnut
23) Effects > Texture Effects > Sculpture
Pattern = arguld 18, Size = 75
Smoothness = 25, Depth = 10
Ambience = -10 (Minus)
Shininess = 10,
Color = #8a462a, Angle = 135
Intensity = 42, Elevation = 50
24) Selections > Select None
25) Layers Palette
Turn off Visibility of bottom layer (image layer)
26) Magic Wand Tool
Mode = Replace, Match mode = RGB Value
Tolerance = 0, Sample Merged = Not checked
Contiguous = Checked, Feather = 0
Anti-alias = Checked, Outside
27) Select outside of frame
28) Selections > Invert
29) Selections > Modify > Contract
Number of pixels = 1
30) Selections > Modify > Select Selection Borders
Outside = Checked, Anti-alias = Checked
Border width = 9
31) Layers > New Raster Layer
32) Flood Fill Tool
Flood fill new layer with Wood Pattern Walnut
33) Effects > Texture Effects > Sculpture
34) Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
Bevel = #10, Width = 9
Smoothness = 30, Depth = 25

and turn Visibility back on

40) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

Pick a light Color as Foreground Color
48) Edit > Copy
49) Minimize framed image
Background
50) File > New
Width = 1024***** pixels
Height = 425 pixels
Resolution = 72.000
Raster Background = Checked
Transparent
*****or width of your computer resolution e.g. 1280 or 1600
51) Materials Palette
Set Background to Wallpaper Pattern
Angle = 0, Scale = 100
52) Flood Fill Tool
Flood fill with Wallpaper Pattern
53) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Edge = Checked, Vertical = Checked
Width (%) = 50, Transition (%) = 50
54) Layers > New Raster Layer
55) Flood Fill Tool
Flood fill new Layer with Foreground Color
56) Layers Palette
Reduce opacity of Flood filled Layer to 78 in order to make the background text-friendly
57) Edit > Paste > Paste as New Layer
(If the framed image is no longer on the clipboard, maximize it and Edit > Copy)
58) Move Tool (M)
Move framed image to left of your background tile
59) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Vertical & Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 60, Blur = 2.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = Not checked
60) Layers > New Raster Layer
61) Add Watermark(s)
62) Move Tool (M)
Move watermark to where you want it
63) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
Compression = 25
Chroma subsampling = YCbCr 1x1 1x1 1x1 (None)
Save Exif data = Not checked
Letter Creator
64) Open Letter Creator
65) Body > Image
Look for the background JPEG file
Click on "Tile"
Choose Font and Font Size
Choose Text Color
Choose Link Color
Margins: Top 10, Left 10 - 20 to the right of your framed image, Right 10
66) Footer
Your name
Reference and link (if possible) to image
Name of tutorial "Striped Wallpaper SB" and link to this page
67) Finish
Choose Letter Name and Collection Name
Save Project
