Uluwehi Tag Tutorial

I used the awesome artwork of Architekt_AT.
I bought it from Creative Fabrica.
I have a subscription, pay monthly and can download what and as much as I want.
The different flower images are from the album "Blooming Houseplants".
Skill Level: Advanced Beginners
No outside Filters/Plugins used
This tutorial is my own creation; any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidental
Program shortcuts will be given in parentheses

Paint Shop Pro - I used X2
(Tutorial will work with other versions)

The settings for different Tools and Effects will stay the same throughout the tutorial, unless new setting instructions are given

Preparation
1) File > Open
Open image of choice
2) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original
3) Dropper Tool (E)
Left click to choose a dark Foreground color
(I chose #ede797)
Right click to choose a light Background color
(I chose #557d4b)
4) Edit > Copy
Minimize
5) Materials Palette
Change Background to Gradient
Settings:
Foreground-background
Angle = 0
Repeat = 7
Invert = Not checked
Style = Linear
Texture = Not Checked
Tag
6) File > New
Settings:
Width = 600 Pixels
Height = 250 Pixels
Resolution = 72.000 Pixels/inch
Raster Background = Checked
Color depth = RGB / 8 bits channel
Transparent = Checked
7) Flood Fill Tool (F)
Settings:
Match mode = None
Use all layers = Not checked
Blend mode = Normal
Opacity = 100
8) Right click to flood fill with Gradient
9) Effects > Distortion Effects > Wave
Settings:
Horizontal displacement
Amplitude = 3
Wavelength = 23
Vertical displacement
Amplitude = 5
Wavelength = 25
Edge mode = Wrap
10) Effects > Distortion Effects > Warp
Settings:
Horizontal (%) = 0
Vertical (%) = -55 (minus)
Size = 72
Strength = -73 (minus)
11) Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Settings:
Radius = 3.00
12) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise
Settings:
Uniform = 35
Monochrome = Checked
13) Effects > Reflection Effects > Pattern
Settings:
Horizontal offset (%) = -37 (minus)
Vertical offset (%) = 45
Rotation angle = 235
Scale factor = -76 (minus)
Number of columns = 3
Number of rows = 13
Horizontal shift = 32
Vertical shift = 49
14) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise
15) Edit > Paste As New Layer (your Tube/s)
16) Image > Resize (Shift + S)
Settings:
Width = 80 %
Height = 80
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Not checked
ok
17) Edit > Repeat Resize
Repeat until you have the tube showing to your liking.
Depending on the tube you work with, you might choose to resize in 50% steps to start with
18) Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask
Settings:
Radius = 1.00, Strength = 47
Clipping = 5
Luminance only = Checked
(Or a setting of your liking)
19) Move Tool (M)
Move tube/s to position of your liking
20) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Horizontal & Vertical = 2
Opacity = 60, Blur = 6.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = Not checked
(Or a setting of your liking)
21) Materials Palette
Change Background to Background color
Texture = Not Checked
22) Layers Palette
Activate bottom layer
Layers > New Raster Layer
23) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new layer with Foreground color
24) Time to play:
a) Change blend mode to "Difference"
b) Flood fill with Background color (instead of Foreground color) -
which do you like better?
c) No? Try different blend modes
d) Hate it? Delete the flood filled layer
25) Materials Palette
Change Foreground color to Black
26) Layers > New Raster Layer
27) Layers > Arrange > Bring to Top
28) Selections > Select All
29) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to flood fill new layer with Foreground color
30) Selections > Modify > Contract
Settings:
Number of Pixels = 3
31) Edit > Clear
32) Selections > Select None
33) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
34) Layers > New Raster Layer
35) Add your artist's copyrights
36) Optional:
Dropper Tool
Right click to choose a new Background color
(I chose #4e3c52)
37) Text Tool (T)
Settings:
Font = Hello Valentica (or Font of choice)
Size = 54 Points (or what suits your Font and Text)
Alignment = Center
Direction = Horizontal and Down
Anti-alias = Sharp
Stroke width = 1.2
Create as Vector
Auto kern = Checked
Kerning = 0 (or what suits your Font and Text)
38) Type Text of choice and click on Apply
39) Layers > Convert to Raster Layer
40) Move Tool
Move text to place of choice
41) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
42) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
43) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
Settings:
Set Compression value to = 10
Chroma subsampling = YCbCr 2x2 1x1 1x1
Save Exif data = Not checked
